Customer Reviews

There is a famous story about a Great Dane in Portland. A three year-old Great Dane was in such bad shape that his owners took him to a Portland, Oregon emergency animal hospital. X-rays showed a foreign material in the dog's stomach that required surgery.

After the two hour operation the vet surgeons pulled out 43 ½ socks. Clearly this family likes colorful socks of all shapes and sizes. The good news is the Dane made full recovery. The bad news is the family is short about 22 pairs of socks and I'm sure the vet bill was in the thousands. Hopefully they had pet insurance!

Don't believe the story? Check out these photographs.

How Much Does It Cost?

The cost of pet insurance depends on 2 key factors: your pet and your zip code. Pet insurance companies rate the cost on how likely your pet is to suffer from a hereditary issue (like hip dysplasia) and the cost of treatment where you live.

Coverage Level Avg. Cost
Accident Only $24/mo.
Medical Plan $38/mo.
Wellness Plan $30/mo.

Pet insurance companies rate plans based on your pet's breed, age and zip code. Here are some samples of prices across the state for a three year-old mixbreed dog.
