Chronic Active Hepatitis in Dogs
Overview
Chronic Active Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver resulting in the accumulation of inflammatory cells and scarring. Causes of hepatitis chronic active include infectious canine hepatitis, leptospirosis, immune mediated diseases and copper storage disease.
Treatment
Treatments include a diet of high calorie and low in protein (HILL’S LD Diet), IV fluids, steroids, broad spectrum antibiotics, ursodiol (Actigal), B-complex and vitamin K.
