Cryptorchidism in Dogs

Overview

Cryptorchidism is the absence of one or both testes from the scrotum. It is the most common birth defect regarding male genitalia. Castration of the undescended testes should be considered for cryptorchid dogs due to the high rate of testicular cancer (also known as monochidism).

 

Treatment

There is no known cure but surgical treatment is available.
