Lacerations in Dogs

 

Overview

Most veterinary clinics and all veterinary hospitals are equipped to provide stitches and other treatment associated with lacerations in dogs. In serious cases your dog may need to be put under anesthesia in order to properly treat a laceration or wound. For deep wounds antibiotics may be administered to prevent bacterial infections.

 

Treatment

Lacerations in dogs are treated with cleaning of the wound and either stitches or a bandage. In some cases antibiotics may be administered in order to prevent the spread of bacterial infections.
