Nationwide Enrollment Requirements

Six weeks minimum, 10 years maximum for enrollment (includes lifetime coverage). Physical exam must have been completed within 12 months prior to enrollment. We recommend the Whole Pet Plan because it offers 90% reimbursement of your actual vet bills with no limits.

Pets Best Enrollment Requirements

Hereditary and Congenital Disorders - There are 7 conditions that have a 12 month waiting period: luxating patellas, portosystemic shunts, elbow dysplasia, hip dysplasia, osteochondritis dissecans and cardiovascular defects. The waiting periods for these conditions can be reduced to only 14 days if a veterinary exam confirms the pet does not have these health conditions. The exam must be performed up to 10 days prior to enrollment or no later than 30 days after enrollment. Vet fills out Pet Health Checklist and 12 month waiting period is waived. Waiting period for cruciate ligament injuries is 6 months.

Summary

The biggest difference between Nationwide and Pets Best is that Nationwide has standardized plans and Pets Best offers customized options. They are both great options. Nationwide if you want simple, broad, straightforward coverage and Pets Best if you want to tailor your pet's coverage.
