Cruciate Ligament Tear in Cats
Overview
Torn knee ligament in cats are far less prevalent than in dogs. However, many cats do suffer from cruciate ligament conditions particularly those that suffer from obesity and excessive weight.
Even healthy cats can suffer from cruciate ligament tears caused by trauma from falling, jumping, running, etc. The most common symptom is a sudden onset of limping and lameness. Diagnosis includes physical tests and in some cases an x-ray or CT scan may be administered.
Treatment
Treatment for cruciate ligament tears requires corrective surgery.
