Petco vs. FIGO Pet Insurance

Petco and FIGO are both excellent choices if you’re looking for accident and illness coverage for a dog or cat.

Petco, which was founded in San Diego in 1965, has been serving pets and pet parents for over 50 years. And with 1,500 stores and billions in revenue it’s one of the most recognized pet brands in America.

FIGO, on the other hand, was founded in Chicago in 2013 in a technology incubator. The focus on it’s founders was to marry technology with world-class pet insurance coverage.

Both companies come from a very different background but both offer excellent pet insurance coverage.

The biggest difference between the two, despite their backgrounds, are waiting periods for accidents and orthopedic issues. Petco has a 14 day waiting period for accidents and FIGO has only a 5 day waiting period. Conversely, Petco has only a 14 day waiting period for orthopedic issues while FIGO has a 6 month waiting period.

Both plans are very similar and you would be extremely happy with either one. The key, however, is to enroll in a plan while your dog or cat is young and healthy!
